Browser extension for FurAffinity

FABUI

A free Chrome and Firefox extension that puts FurAffinity's notifications in your toolbar and lets you upload a stack of files at once.

The Chrome version also works in Brave and other Chromium-based browsers, version 109 or newer. Latest release: 5.16.7, Oct 19, 2026.

FABUI is an independent extension. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by FurAffinity.

FABUI's popup open under its toolbar button: tabs for submissions, journals, favorites, comments and notes with red counts, and a shout being answered from the comments tab.

What it does

The notifier

  • Counts new submissions, comments, journals, favorites and notes on the toolbar button. It checks FA every minute.
  • A popup to look through them and clear what you've seen, without opening FurAffinity.
  • Desktop notifications when something new comes in.
  • Mute artists, give some artists their own rules, or filter by blacklist words.
  • Submissions with tags on your FA blocklist show the FABUI icon instead of their thumbnail.

The uploader

  • Several files at once, dragged and dropped anywhere on FA's upload page.
  • Edit details as you go, and save them as Upload Defaults for next time.
  • Series and comics get their previous, next and first links filled in for you.
  • Line everything up and let it upload one after another in the background.

Also

  • On someone's profile, shows whether they watch you.
  • Works with Firefox's Multi-Account Containers, sending only that container's FA cookies.
  • Adds the Cloudflare clearance cookie your browser got on FA to its own requests, so its checks usually get through. If they don't, open FA in a tab and pass the check.

Drop files anywhere on FA's upload page.
Two files in FABUI's uploader, each with its title, tags, folder, category and gender fields, and a folder menu open.
Fill in each file's details, tags and folder.
FABUI's upload queue with three files, the first one uploading and a progress bar underneath.
The queue uploads them one after another.

History

KenjiKuroneki created FABUI. I maintain it now; the changelog covers everything since the Manifest V3 port.

  1. Oct 2026

    5.16.7 · Tewulf

Badge counts drop as soon as you clear notifications, the upload page stops closing itself on Chrome, and Firefox gets past Cloudflare on FA pages.

  2. Oct 2026

Badge counts leave out what FABUI hides, FA's tag blocklist works again, and shouts show their message.

I take over as maintainer. Chrome and Firefox now build from one shared source and ship together.

  4. Oct 2026

Follow-up Cloudflare fixes, so the red X clears within a second of opening FA.

  5. Oct 2026

    5.16.4 · Tewulf

Fixed the red X caused by FurAffinity's Cloudflare challenge, and blank commenter names after FA's comment redesign.

Kenji's last release built on Manifest V2, the older extension format Chrome has since retired.

Permissions

This is everything in FABUI's manifest. Your browser only warns about some of it at install. Its site access is limited to furaffinity.net and facdn.net.

  • furaffinity.net, facdn.netChrome and Firefox

To read your notifications and upload for you. facdn.net is where FA serves its images.

  • cookiesChrome and Firefox

FA's Cloudflare clearance cookie is partitioned, so the browser doesn't always send it with FABUI's requests, and without it FABUI's checks get Cloudflare's challenge. On Firefox it's also how the right cookies go out for each container.

  • declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccessChrome only

How Chrome lets FABUI attach that cookie: one rule, for FurAffinity requests only.

  • webRequest, webRequestBlockingFirefox only

Firefox's way of attaching the same cookie, and of sending the right cookies when you use containers.

  • contextualIdentitiesFirefox only

    Support for Multi-Account Containers.

  • notificationsChrome and Firefox

    Desktop notifications for new activity.

  • offscreenChrome only

Chrome's background service worker has no DOM and can't play audio, so FABUI's background code runs in a hidden offscreen document that can parse FA's pages and play notification sounds.

  • storage, unlimitedStorageChrome and Firefox

Your settings and what FABUI keeps between checks, without the browser's default size cap.
